Samsung T7 Shield (1 To, Noir)

Rugged external SSD, NVMe 1TB/2TB.

Level : Beginner

The Samsung T7 Shield is a reinforced external SSD certified IP65 (water- and dust-resistant) and built to withstand drops of up to 3 metres. With transfer speeds up to 1050 MB/s over USB 3.2 Gen 2, it allows direct editing of heavy 4K video files with no slowdown.

What the community says

The T7 Shield made its name on shoots for its toughness: the point feedback cites first, a rubberised IP65 enclosure that survives rain and drops. Transfer speeds stay high and stable, which lets you edit straight off the drive. Two reservations keep coming up: it is noticeably slower than the unprotected models in the same range, and its shell attracts dust.

Strengths and highlights

→Rubberised IP65 enclosure: the first argument in feedback, it survives rain and bag drops.
→High, stable transfer speeds, enough to edit straight from the drive with no intermediate copy.
→Limited heat even during long transfers, regularly cited as a difference from more compact SSDs.

Our verdict

A sensible pick if the drive travels and lives on shoots: the protection justifies the price gap. For a drive that stays on the desk, an unprotected version will be faster for less.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit video directly on this SSD?∨

Absolutely. With over 1000 MB/s of throughput, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro will link your 4K footage with no latency at all.

Does it survive water and knocks in the field?∨

Yes: an IP65 rating against water and dust, plus a shock-resistant rubber shell. That is what sets it apart from the classic T7, which is smoother and more fragile.

Does it work with Mac, iPad and Android?∨

Yes, the USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 connection is recognised on Mac, PC, iPad and Android, and you can edit straight from the drive without copying first.
